Tour the Inn

The Inn At the Oaks is a large Victorian home, originally built for a sea captain in 1870 and converted to an Inn in the early 1900's. Today the Inn has all the old charm of a large Victorian home, with all the modern amenities you would expect in a quality bed and breakfast.

On the ground floor of the Inn, you'll find four public rooms. There are two light and airy parlors, the breakfast room and a dining area. The Garden Room is the only guest room on the first floor. There are six guest rooms on the second floor and three on the third floor.

The Inn has a wrap-around porch with rocking chairs in the front and back of the Inn, perfect for sitting with a glass of cold lemonade in the afternoon, or a hot cup of coffee in the morning. There are cafť tables and chairs right outside the breakfast room, with picnic tables. The two acre property is a rolling landscape with a half-basketball court, tether ball and horseshoe area, and of course lots of stately oak trees and other beautiful plantings.

Just a few steps from the Inn is the Carriage House, also dating back to the 1870's. From the outside it appears to be a smaller building, but once inside, you'll find three large suites, each with a separate entrance, as well a common kitchen. The Carriage House contains our dog friendly rooms, and it is where we usually recommend rooms for families and for longer stays.

When you enter the Inn you'll be in the original 1870 home of Captain Chipman, and you'll immediately note the beautiful wood floors, period detail, and expansive light filled rooms. Your Innkeeper will give you a tour of the many beautiful public areas filled with antiques as well as many modern amenities. Linger over a relaxing breakfast. Gather with friends or play a board game by the fire place. Sit back in a rocking chair on one of our expansive decks. We want the Inn to be your "home" on the Outer Cape, and our staff will always strive to make your stay at the Inn one of your best vacations ever.

Almost all of our guests comment on our convenient location on the Outer Cape, which is often referred to as "the Cape the way it used to be." The Inn is just a few miles from Atlantic and Bay beaches, bike trails, and world famous Cape Cod towns like Chatham, Provincetown, Orleans, and Wellfleet. The only hard part is deciding what to do first! Go for on a whale watch or seal watch, walk our miles of gorgeous beaches, take a bike ride on the Cape Cod Rail trail, get a lobster roll at Arnolds and take it to the Wellfleet Drive Inn, visit shops and galleries, listen to music or attend the theater... and so much more.
